A hospital that is part of a national chain recently discovered an increase of $16,000 of long distance charges on their phone bill. This excessive billing continued for several months. The hospital ran a series of reports using VXTracker and discovered that there were hundreds of calls in excess of 300 minutes per call.

They determined that the phone number belonged to the corporate billing office, not the hospital, and was being charged to the hospital's account in error. The long-duration calls were caused by remote users dialing into the network to gain access to a server that linked up several office locations and then failing to disconnect when they were done. By using VXTracker to prove this, the hospital received a $138,000 credit for the charges which were transferred to the billing office's cost center.
